I just don't know what's happened. Abbi Glines used to be my "go to" author. I would get so excited when she had a new release. Something changed over the last several books. It's almost as though they were written by an entirely different author. The heroes of late are just plain a**h***s, and the heroines are weak and too quick to make excuses for the d-bags. I've continued to buy and read even though this trend started half a dozen books ago. This author's books have always been pricey, but I was willing to pay because I enjoyed them so much. Not only are the stories falling flat, but the price is rising with each new release. $10.99 is WAY too much for a book of this caliber! I still love to go back and reread the older series, but I'm sorry to say I won't be buying anything else from this author.

I really hate to do this because I have always been a HUGE fan of all of Abbi Glines books and have loved almost every series but this one was not the typical writing that I am used to seeing from Abbi Glines. I loved the previous two Field Party books but this one came up short. It was difficult to connect with the characters and the ending was just blah. I usually reread Abbi's books over and over again but I will definitely not be reading this one again and wish I never purchased it.

I will admit, after reading Under the Lights (Gunner and Willa's story) I was not a fan and not sure I was going to pick up After The Game, but I figured I'd give this story a chance, because I really wanted to learn more about Riley and I wanted to see Brady get a HEA. I am so freaking happy I did, because this book was one I was unable to put down!Riley was forced out of town two years ago, after accusing Rhett Lawson of rape, but now she's back when her family needs to take care of her grandma. Now back in town she doesn't want to make waves, just take care of her little girl, finish her homeschooling and get out of town as quickly as possible again. She tries to keep to herself, but when Brady runs into her and starts to question if everything they believed to be a lie, maybe wasn't, things change for both of them. Brady works on befriending Riley, and Riley works on trusting again. When Brady starts to have his own demons to fight, it's Riley he turns to, and the connection between them is undeniable. I loved how remorseful he was of what he did, and how he proved over and over again to Riley that he was wrong and how he made up for it, and how others started to realize what they did as well. Seeing Riley start to feel secure back in her town again was amazing, and seeing her be the rock for Brady when he needed it the most was beautiful. Seeing Brady not only be so accepting of Riley but welcoming Bryony into his life as well was awesome. He cared so much about both of them, and seeing how big a part his family played into their lives as and how big of a part Bryony and Riley played in Brady's family was interesting. There was a lot of learning and healing that happened in this book, as well as growing. Both of these characters showed that the past didn't define you, nor do the actions of others, and that when you find that person that makes everything better, you just do not let them go. These two are a perfect match, and I adored reading their story, and hated watching it end. I may just have to pick up the next one when it comes out in hopes we see more of them because I really was not ready to say goodbye to them.If you really love this series, you need to pick this one up, or if you're a lover of young adult/new adult romance, definitely pick up After The Game today (it can be read as a stand-alone). This is one I do not regret one-clicking!

I'm really giving this book more of a 3.5 stars that 3, the saving grace was Bryony.I was a little more than disappointed in this book to be honest. I read other reviews and thought "surely it's not as bad as they make it out to seem. If the first two were great this one should be too right?" I was dead wrong and it definitely was worth the $10.99 price tag. I kept waiting for me to love the storyline. I kept waiting for something big to happen, but it never came. I predicted the bad thing that happened to Brady at the very beginning of the book. I felt like something better could've been written for him. I also felt like we should've been a little more privy to Riley and everything that happened with Rhett. It still isn't entirely clear and this story definitely needed that gut-wrenching tale. For the most part it stayed relatively smooth sailing. There wasn't any big bumps in the road, no obstacles that they had to get over as a couple. Their breakup and eventual makeup was even lackluster. I wish Abbi would've given us more. It felt rushed and I couldn't get passed the inconsistencies. If it happens once okay, but multiple times were really bugging me (am I the only one that noticed in the beginning Brady mentioned he was going to Texas A&M for college instead of the University of Alabama that he magically always knew he was going to and took a college visit?). I hope her other series ends a little better than this one did.
